As a community-driven map and route-sharing experience, our users shape the tone and quality of the platform through the content they post, the conversations they initiate, and the places they highlight. These guidelines help define what it means to be a responsible member of the Scenic community.

By using Scenic, you agree to abide by these rules. Failure to comply may result in the removal of content, warnings, or account restrictions.

Prohibited Content

To maintain a safe and welcoming space, the following content is strictly prohibited:

- Violence & Threats: Content promoting or threatening violence, harm, or abuse (including veiled threats).
- Hate Speech: Discrimination or dehumanisation based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality.
- Sexual Content: Explicit imagery or sexually suggestive content not suitable for a general audience.
- Illegal Activities: Any content related to drug use, trespassing, vandalism, or other criminal behaviour.
- Harassment: Targeted bullying, stalking, or persistent unwanted interactions.
- Misinformation: Deliberately misleading route information, photoshopped and AI generated images passed as real, or manipulated statistics.
- Spam & Scams: Repetitive content, fake engagement, misleading monetisation efforts, or phishing attempts.

Content-Specific Guidelines

Route Submissions
- Must reflect real, accessible paths suitable for public use.
- Should avoid pointing to private residences or restricted zones.
- Descriptions should be informative and honest.

‍Media (Photos & Videos)
- Must follow the Route & Media Risk Policy.
- Avoids any photos and video of children and minors.
- Avoids identifiable faces unless consent is implied or given.
- Does not misrepresent location, route difficulty, or scenery.

‍Comments & Messaging
- Constructive, respectful, and relevant dialogue only.
- No trolling, flame wars, or inappropriate language.

Respect for Private Property and Sensitive Areas

We strongly discourage the promotion of:

- Routes that cross private land without permission.
- Locations that are environmentally sensitive or overwhelmed by tourism.
- Locations where photography, drone usage, or entry is restricted.

Users should honour local regulations and cultural norms.

Reporting and Moderation

User Reports
‍Users can report content or behaviour that violates these guidelines. Reports are reviewed using a combination of AI and human moderation.

Appeals Process

Users can appeal moderation decisions within 7 days by emailing support@scenicnav.com. An internal moderation team reviews appeals.
